Academic Scholarships
Geelong Grammar School fosters academic excellence by offering students with strong academic skills the opportunity to participate in our challenging curriculum. The School's aim is to offer opportunities to talented students, who otherwise may have been unable to enjoy a GGS education.
Academic Scholarships are offered for
- Bostock House – Years 3 and 4
- Corio Campus – Years 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11
- Timbertop – Year 9
Eligibility, examinations and interviews
Applicants should be Australian or New Zealand citizens or holders of an Australian Permanent Resident Visa, who are entering the relevant year level.
The School uses examination papers set by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).
Examinations are usually held in the February of the year prior to year level entry.
Click here for current application closing dates and examination dates. Alternative dates cannot be arranged for local candidates. Alternative locations can be arranged for candidates who live in remote, interstate or overseas locations, details of which will be forwarded by ACER after the application has been received.
Shortlisted students will be asked to attend an interview at the School.
Note: If a student currently holds a scholarship at another school, this should be disclosed at the interview stage of the application.
Scholarships will be offered as soon as possible after the interview.
All awards are reviewed annually.
What does an academic scholarship cover?
Each year the School awards a number of academic scholarships of up to 50% of the tuition and day student fees; the actual percentage offered depends on the performance of the individual candidate in both the examination and, if shortlisted, the subsequent scholar's interview. Awards of over 50% are made in exceptional circumstances. In such cases, parents will be asked to complete a financial assessment form.
The scholarship awarded applies to the relevant Geelong Grammar School fee, but not to uniforms, private music lessons, text books, excursions, sundry charges or other personal items.
Application fees
The following non-refundable application fees apply:
