Endowment Scholarships

Endowment Scholarships are made possible through the generosity and support of donors. These Scholarships are based on school reports, student application, financial assessment and interview. Please refer to the specific eligibility information below.

Old Geelong Grammarians Association Scholarships

The Old Geelong Grammarians Association (OGG) (through the funds it makes available for scholarships) helps to maintain the links between past students and the School today. The School awards these Scholarships to new students whose parents or grandparents are OGG (Geelong Grammar, The Hermitage or Clyde Schools) and wish to attend Geelong Grammar School but who could not do so without financial assistance.

These scholarships are offered for

  • Corio Campus – Years 7, 8, 10 and 11
  • Timbertop – Year 9

The Sir James Darling Memorial Fund Scholarships

These scholarships commemorate the life and work of Sir James Darling (1899-1995), Headmaster of Geelong Grammar School for 32 years from 1930 to 1961, and inspired educational leader. In accordance with Sir James Darling's wishes to enrol students from a wide range of backgrounds, these scholarships provide places for new students who would not be able to attend Geelong Grammar School without financial assistance.

These scholarships are offered for

  • Corio Campus – Years 7, 8, 10 and 11
  • Timbertop – Year 9

The Nicholas Webb Scholarship

This scholarship has been endowed in memory of former Geelong Grammar student Nicholas Webb (1981-1999). The scholarship provides a place for a full boarding student, new to the School, entering Year 10, who would not be able to attend Geelong Grammar School without financial assistance. The value of the award is up to 50% of full boarding and tuition fees.

Eligibility and application procedures for GGS Endowment Scholarships

  • Applicants should be Australian or New Zealand citizens or holders of an Australian Permanent Resident Visa.
  • Candidates should demonstrate an ability as an all rounder and be eager to participate in the wide range of opportunities available at the School and respect the philosophy and rules that govern the School.

Parents are asked to complete a financial assessment form and a brief comment in support of assistance.

Students are asked to complete a series of questions in part two of the application and provide a final school report for the previous year and interim reports for current year.
All applicants will be invited to the Corio campus to be interviewed by the Principal, or his representative, who will award these scholarships.

Note: if a student currently holds a scholarship at another school, this should be disclosed at the interview stage of the application.

Scholarships will be offered once the scholarship sub-committee has met. All awards are reviewed annually.
