The Philosophy of Sport at GGS
At GGS, we believe that sport is about seizing opportunity – and running with it.
Co-curricular activities enrich the life of every GGS student and strengthen staff/student relationships. Sport at GGS is about competition, energy, physical condition, moulding character and building friendships.
Students develop physical skills while nurturing their social and emotional skills, especially their resilience.
The GGS Sport Directorate combines the talents of high-profile coaches with our own dedicated GGS staff to ensure excellence in sport leadership. Exciting winter, spring and summer programmes provide rich variety in sporting possibilities with the more traditional school sports bolstered with the special challenges of equestrian, yachting, rowing and more.
The GGS sporting facilities are world-class and take pride-of-place at the Corio Campus.
Our students compete at House, School and National levels. Geelong Grammar School is a member of and competes in the APS (Associated Public Schools) - an association of eleven prestigious private schools in Melbourne and Geelong.
Our sporting programme focuses on developing the individual and team. Emphasis is on skill development, enjoyment and the promotion of life-long skills in physical activity.
While talented students are challenged to reach their full sporting potential, opportunities are provided for students of all abilities.
