DISCOVERING POSITIVE EDUCATION

Learning and living Positive Education

How can Positive Education transform your teaching, your school and your life? This multi-day course focuses on personal transformation through teaching practical skills that the science of Positive Psychology has shown can have a significant and lasting impact on wellbeing.

Participants will gain a thorough insight into the science of Positive Psychology and explore ten foundational concepts drawn from Geelong Grammar’s School’s whole-school Positive Education programme.

From April 2018, the course will commence with a compulsory online module providing an overview of Positive Psychology.  The following nine different topics are covered in-depth during the three-day course. These topics include Character Strengths, Mindsets, Positivity, Flow, Active Constructive Responding, Gratitude, Resilience, Meaning and Purpose, and Habit.

There will also be opportunities throughout the course to discuss and explore ideas to bring Positive Education alive in your school context.

Participants will learn skills that:

  • Sustain positive relationships
  • Prolong positive emotions
  • Foster mindfulness and build resilience
  • Enable the state of flow
  • Cultivate a growth mindset
  • Promote a deeper understanding of one’s meaning and purpose

FEEDBACK FROM EDUCATORS

“In a word, this course is transformational - I enjoyed every moment of the experience; learning from the presenters, sharing experiences with the other participants and the additional, well planned activities. So well organised and professionally presented, Discovering Positive Education has opened the door to a whole new perspective on teaching and living for me. “

Kyla Jacques

"This was the best four days. From beginning to end, it was well thought out.  The format of the course followed a sensible pathway and it was well balanced between theory and practical applications including case study examples from Geelong Grammar."

Angela Moore

“Absolutely every aspect of the course was excellent. Presenters were 'real', inspirational and passionate. They embodied the variety of messages and learnings from the course. The course content was full of research and evidence-based theory that was applicable to my life and could be extended to my classroom practice. It was highly engaging and thought-provoking. Many thanks!”
