EXPLORING MINDFULNESS

Enhancing wellbeing and learning

Practicing mindfulness in schools can help young people to not only manage difficulties but move towards flourishing. Mindfulness can also help teachers, parents and the wider school community.

Research highlights that mindfulness offers significant benefits to young people which include: increased wellbeing and mental health, improved concentration and cognition, enhanced social and emotional learning, and improved behaviour and self-regulation.

The benefits of mindfulness for adults are well-researched and the positive impact it can have on teachers, counsellors and carers are central to a whole-school approach to Positive Education. These benefits include: stress regulation and reduction, increased self-compassion and enhanced teaching efficacy.

Throughout this practical workshop, you will learn how to weave mindfulness and meditation into everyday practice as well as explore theory and research that proves its credibility within the curriculum.
