ART - Photography

Either Semester

The practical component of this course allows students to integrate traditional black and white and digital colour photography techniques in the development of a folio which explores a range of photographic processes. Students are introduced to composition and a variety of ways to manipulate image using light, camera, darkroom techniques and digital editing technologies. By investigating the work of past and current photographic artists, students learn to interpret artworks from the viewpoints of artist and audience whilst considering cultural and social contexts. With a focus on aesthetic qualities, students learn to further conceive, experiment and evaluate their own practical work within a Visual Arts framework. Students who successfully complete this unit will have an opportunity to continue this study either through Media, Studio Arts and/or Visual Communication Design, or IB Visual Arts.
