Elected unopposed by the Board, Amanda Elliott is the 21st Chair of the Victoria Racing Club (VRC), home of the Melbourne Cup and one of Australia's oldest racing institutions, offering world-class racing and entertainment facilities. Amanda is the first female to hold the position in the club's 153-year history. She had been acting Chair since December 2016, Vice-Chair since 2011 and a committee member since 2002. Along with her extensive experience in sport, business and politics, Amanda has race club administration in her blood, being the daughter of Ian Bayles (dec), a former fighter pilot who was VRC Vice-Chairman in the 1980's. According to Fox Sports, Amanda is now "the vibrant, intelligent, often self-effacing and amusing chairman of a club that has always been run by serious men in suits."
