Our Barwon Heads gathering reflected the strength of the ongoing support that exists for Geelong Grammar School within the Bellarine Peninsula, not only in the past, but also in the present and the future. The importance of this support cannot be understated - past Geelong Grammarians, Clyde Old Girls and Hermitage Old Girls, together with past and current parents and staff came together, sharing wonderful stories and friendships.

Dean Dell’Oro, Head of Corio at the time of the event, spoke about the physical changes that had taken place at Corio during his near twenty years at the School. He spoke about the developments within student learning and how the School is supporting them as they move towards entering the work place as young adults, following the completion of Year 12. Dean also reflected on the history of the School and the strong legacy which both students and staff build upon in their day to day lives at Corio.

We all appreciated Dean’s talk and wished him every success in his appointment as Headmaster of Hale School in Western Australia.

As Chairman, I am delighted that there is a growing awareness of the Biddlecombe Society and an increasing understanding of the fact that a bequest will help to support the School in years and decades to come. Our membership continues to increase not only within Victoria but interstate too. The kindness is overwhelming and these events are an opportunity for us to thank those who have made provision in their wills to support the School, or are intending to do so. To all those, I give my heartfelt thanks. Finally, on behalf of all Biddlecombe Society members, following the announcement by Jeremy Kirkwood, Chairman of the School Council, I would like to add our collective welcome to Rebecca Cody, who takes over as Principal of Geelong Grammar School in Term 2, 2018. We very much hope that Rebecca will have an opportunity to meet our members at some of the 2018 Biddlecombe Society events.
