FROM THE TEACHER-IN-CHARGE

As we enter Term 3, there are only three rounds of football remaining. The fixtures have now been released and are available for viewing on the GGS App and in the RH column of this newsletter.

Term 2 saw some fantastic outcomes for the football programme. Our girls’ successful transition into competitive APS Football, the Year 10 boys team being promoted to the 10A competition, the development of the boys in the GGS Yellow team, strong results for GGS Blue, a fantastic culture within the Firsts and Seconds squads and the pure joy shown by our MS teams at their training and matches.

A personal highlight of the season so far has been the inclusivity shown at Thursday night selection. This is a great initiative where all teams gather at the Tunbridge Pavilion for a BBQ and to hear the sides for the upcoming weekend. The support shown for all teams has been phenomenal.

I encourage all supporters to attend the fixtures at GGS on 20 July. This coincides with the 2019 GGS Indigenous Festival. Some of our teams will be wearing the new indigenous playing strip and there will be a Welcome to Country prior to the 1st XVIII match versus MGS. It is also Past Players' Day!  Two excellent reasons to spend the afternoon at Corio.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible around the grounds for the final three rounds of the season.

MID-SEASON UPDATE

We are over halfway through the Football Season and our eight teams have enjoyed a healthy volume of singing the school’s war cry after a win!

Our Open Girls Team have enjoyed a great season in their first APS competition and their attack on the football has been mighty impressive.
Our Year 7 Team is undefeated and the Year 10s have just been moved from the 10B competition up to the 10A level.
Our 1st XVIII played this year’s Derby at GMHBA Stadium as the curtain raiser to the Geelong vs Western Bulldogs AFL match and had a healthy victory over College.
