rosesAs the year draws to a close we reflect on what we have done and think of those who have helped us along our way. As Co-Chairs, there are so many people we need and want to acknowledge, and thank, for their contribution to the Past Parents’ Network in 2018.

First we would like to thank our dedicated, wise and supportive Committee for their tireless efforts throughout the year. We would like to thank our 2018 hosts, for without their generosity we would not be able to hold our social functions. Our sincere thanks to Dr Williams, and his daughter Winifred, for opening their magnificent and historical home in Hawthorn VIC; and to Bails and Sarah Myer for allowing us to visit and hold our spring luncheon at their spectacular Elgee Park property on the Mornington Peninsula. Our thanks and very best wishes to our colleagues who have created and who sustain the PPN’s Hong Kong Chapter. Our team in Hong Kong recently joined forces with GGS to meet and welcome the School’s new Principal.

We would like to acknowledge the ongoing support of the School and to extend a warm welcome to its new Principal, Ms Rebecca Cody. We all look forward to working with Rebecca and the School in the year ahead. And still in the School context, we would like to say a very special thank you to Iga Bajer who goes far beyond her defined duties to support us. Your kindness is very much appreciated Iga.

Since 2013, we have engaged over 750 Past Parents whose children's year levels range from the 1970s (Glamorgan Campus) through to the new Past Parents of 2018. We look forward to engaging more Past Parents in 2019. We will only be able to do this with your support. So we ask you to share your experience of the PPN events with your GGS friends and encourage them to join us at one of our future functions. And a note to Past Parents living in other Australian States: contact us and we will assist you to start a PPN Chapter in your home territory.

The PPN is not a fundraising organisation and it is largely self-funding. Its Committee of Management comprises elected volunteers who ‘run’ the association and its events with the support of the broader membership and key people within the School. It is a collective effort by generous people. We feel very privileged to be part of such a positive, energetic and effective group of people.

As Co-Chairs we rely upon and complement each other’s unique contribution to the Network. We are grateful to each other and every person in our Past Parents’ community for their friendship and support. Our details are below. We welcome your ideas as to how you see our Network moving forward.

Our best wishes to you and your families for the coming festive season and, most especially, a safe, happy and healthy 2019.
