2022 SYDNEY BIDDLECOMBE SOCIETY LUNCHEON

The Biddlecombe Society held its first lunch event in Sydney since 2019. What a delight it was to be back amongst our wonderful New South Wales community and in particular our Society members, in the Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House.

There was a good turnout, and we were very pleased to have special guests, Tom Hall (Vice Principal – Residential Education, Care and Community) together with John Sevior (P’79), Eja Collins (Ga’20) and her mother Jody with us to talk to those attending.

Tom spoke about his journey through Timbertop as Unit Head, then Head of Campus at Timbertop and more recently, the announcement of his move from Timbertop to Corio to take up the role of Vice Principal.

Eja was the inaugural recipient of the Sevior Family Scholarship. She spoke about her personal experiences of receiving the scholarship and her journey through Geelong Grammar School, before concluding with her current studies in Canberra at ANU. John spoke about his personal journey through Geelong Grammar School as a student, then setting up his scholarship and taking great pleasure in watching Eja’s achievements both at Geelong Grammar and Canberra.

These addresses were warmly welcomed and the message of the benefits of a scholarship, both for the recipient and the benefactor, were clearly understood at a deeply emotive level by the audience.

Two new members were welcomed to the Biddlecombe Society by the Chairman, Charlie Sutherland (P’86) and presented with their pins by the Chair of the Foundation, Penny McBain.

Grace was said by Arthur Charles (M’58).
