Rebecca Cody was commissioned as the twelfth Principal of Geelong Grammar School by the Most Reverend Dr Philip Freier, Archbishop of the Diocese of Melbourne and Primate of the Anglican Church of Australia, in a wonderful ceremony held in the SPACE on Sunday 29 April. Rebecca is the first female Principal in the School's history, as well as the first Australian-born Principal.

Over 600 students, staff, community members and dignitaries packed into The David Darling Play House for the service, which began with a Smoking Ceremony on the grass as the guests entered before a traditional Welcome to Country from the Wathaurong people in the Play House.

The service was conducted by Archbishop Freier, the School's Chaplains, Reverend Gordon Lingard and Father Howard Parkinson, and Reverend Hollis Wilson, the Chaplain at Rebecca's previous school, MLC Claremont. Given the size of the gathering, the School's AV staff, with the assistance of the Drama department, worked hard to replicate the feel of the Chapel of All Saints within the Play House through the use of projections and lighting.
