Christian Davis (Yr11 Fr) produced the run of his life in the Under 18 800m final at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in Canberra between 2-4 December. Christian slashed almost 1.5 seconds off his old personal best (and School Record) time to win the final in 1:49.04. His 800m run was also the fastest ever seen at an Australian All Schools meet.

The 800m event was completed in a timed-final format; no heats were contested and runners were split into two races based on their qualifying times. Those with quicker qualifying times from state events found themselves in the second section - Christian included - leaving runners with the knowledge that the winner of the second final would likely win overall. Christian was pushed all the way by Victorian teammate and Scotch College student Archie Wallis, who finished just 0.47 seconds behind him. It was almost all so different for Christian, who woke on the morning of the event with a spasm in his right knee.

"Just before the race I was talking with my team... I was really close to not racing (due to the knee issue)," Christian said. "We decided to run and see how it goes. Luckily it was all good."

Christian also competed in the Under 18 400m final. Having qualified second-fastest from the heats, Christian ran a sensational race in the final to finish fourth in another personal best time of 48.14 seconds.
