Since completing my education at Geelong Grammar School on the Nicholas Pierce Scholarship, I have continued to pursue my career in the Australian maritime and shipping industry. Over the course of 12 years, I worked diligently toward obtaining my Master Mariners Unlimited Tonnage Certificate, which qualifies me to serve as Captain on any vessel, regardless of size, anywhere in the world.

My time at GGS played a significant role in helping me achieve this goal. Boarding school gave me invaluable early experience of being away from home and family, equipping me with the skills to manage long periods at sea.

I currently work with Shell Australia at a facility called Prelude FLNG, the largest floating structure ever built, located 450 nautical miles north of Broome. In my role as Loadmaster, I manage and oversee the transfer of cargo from the facility to international vessels.

Last year, I was honoured to be nominated and win the Outstanding Technician/Tradesperson of the Year award at the West Australian Women in Resources Awards. I was then thrilled to receive a special mention in Canberra during the Women’s Awards at Australian Resource Week.

I often look back on my time at GGS with great fondness and gratitude for the staff who supported me in reaching my career goals. I recognise that pursuing a non-traditional career path like mining can be challenging, but the guidance I received helped me find success in a lucrative industry.

Currently, I am on maternity leave after the birth of my daughter in February, and I am thoroughly enjoying this special time in my life.
