Members and friends of the Biddlecombe Society came together on Tuesday 18 November for the annual Sydney Luncheon, held in the spectacular Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House.

Hosted by Biddlecombe Society Chair, Jim Gall (Cu’91), and joined by Principal Rebecca Cody, the lunch welcomed a strong gathering of members, guests and prospective supporters eager to learn more about the Society and the GGS bequest program. Against the iconic backdrop of Sydney Harbour, attendees enjoyed the opportunity to connect, reflect and celebrate the enduring impact of philanthropy at Geelong Grammar School.

A highlight of the event was a heartfelt address from past scholar Sally Barlow (He’21), who shared her personal reflections on the opportunities made possible through her education at Geelong Grammar School as a recipient of the Nicholas Pierce and Pop Fink Scholarships. Sally spoke candidly about her journey since leaving school and the exciting next steps ahead, offering a powerful reminder of the transformative role scholarships play in shaping young lives. Her remarks were warmly received and deeply resonated with those in attendance.

The lunch also marked a special moment as a new member was formally welcomed into the Biddlecombe Society and presented with their membership pin. It was noted with pride that interest in the program remains as strong as ever, with membership now exceeding 300 – a testament to the generosity and long-term commitment of the Geelong Grammar community.

This annual event continues to be a meaningful occasion to celebrate legacy giving, shared purpose and the lasting difference that thoughtful philanthropy makes for future generations of students.
