AUSTRALIAN RURAL AND REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Geelong Grammar Foundation is partnering with two generous and supportive Old Geelong Grammarians (OGGs) and are seeking support from donors to fund the first Rural and Regional Scholarship at Geelong Grammar School.

The School is renewing its commitment to our rural and regional communities and it could not be a more important time to provide scholarship support. Both the OGGs and the Geelong Grammar Foundation recognise that many students from our rural and regional areas need assistance to attend the School.

Currently, the School provides 25% of secondary students with financial assistance through the scholarship programme. The Foundation would like to offer the opportunity to more students who simply cannot experience the exceptional education Geelong Grammar School provides.

The Scholarship will be available to families who reside in remote, rural and regional areas throughout Australia. In addition to being offered a scholarship, mentoring opportunities will be provided for scholarship recipients, which will assist students as they venture into life at GGS and beyond.

OUR GOAL

We are delighted that we exceeded our initial target of $800,000 (for an endowed scholarship) and that our inaugural Australian Rural and Regional Scholarship student will commence at the School in 2021. The Geelong Grammar Foundation together with Geelong Grammar School would like to thank our School community for their wonderful generosity.

Our overall goal for this scholarship is to raise approximately $2M for one full boarding scholarship or two scholarships at a 50% fee remission.

There are many ways to contribute and be part of this special scholarship. You can make a single gift or a pledge over three to five years. We kindly invite you to support this outstanding scholarship opportunity and offer a life changing experience to future students from our rural and regional areas of Australia.

“For many years, we have discussed the difficulties facing many rural
families (including those of OGGs) in sending or continuing to send their
children to Geelong Grammar School. Rural students have been a significant
part of the School and we would like to increase the number to maintain
reasonable representation. Whilst there are many diverse scholarships on
offer at GGS, we are delighted to offer the first rural scholarship to assist
our rural communities. Over many generations, the rural community have
been great contributors to the School. The Australian Rural and Regional
Scholarship uniquely offers student guidance and is a perfect way to assist
our very important rural and regional communities”
