Guest Speakers
Justin Lewis (P ’81) is a judge of the County Court of Victoria. His legal career began at the small city firm, Richmond & Bennison, where he cut his teeth on a variety of matters before joining the Victorian Bar in 2003.
Initially undertaking a broad civil law practice, he eventually found his calling in criminal law, prosecuting indictable offences for the Office of Public Prosecutions. In 2014, he was appointed Crown Prosecutor for Victoria’s Western Region, based in Geelong, where he advised on and undertook prosecutions of indictable offences throughout the west of the state.
Returning to Melbourne in 2020, Justin was appointed a Senior Crown Prosecutor in 2023 and took silk in 2024. The following year, he was appointed to the County Court bench.
Throughout his prosecutorial career, Justin was entrusted with a number of serious and sensitive cases, including multiple murder trials and high-profile prosecutions such as those of Malka Leifer and Geoff Clark. He has also appeared from time to time in the Victorian Court of Appeal.
Beyond the courtroom, Justin attempts to maintain a wry sense of humour and an enduring curiosity about the world. He has (with varying degrees of success) renovated an old house in the country, sailed the windswept waters off Hobart, and tried to coax melodies out of a guitar — sometimes even in front of an audience.
He lives in Melbourne with his wife, Lisa, their uncooperative black-and-white cat, Basil, and a guitar that is both companion and nemesis.

Catherine Boston SC (Viggers, Fr’99) was a GGS student from 1991 to 1999, attending the Highton, Timbertop and Corio campuses. A keen debater and thespian, she was Dux of the School and Fraser House Captain.
Catherine completed Law and Commerce degrees at Melbourne University, and later a Master of Laws (the BCL) at Oxford University. After working as a solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions, and as a judge’s associate in the Supreme Court of Victoria, Catherine joined the Victorian Bar in 2010.
She took silk in 2023, being appointed senior counsel. As a criminal defence barrister Catherine has had many important cases, including High Court appeals. Her clients have included Lawyer X accused and the Montague Street Bridge bus driver.
