Instrument Hire
Students are asked to bring their own instruments or arrange to hire an instrument from an instrument hire company. We do not have instruments available at Timbertop, however, they can be hired through the Music School at Corio or an Instrument Hire Company. Those undertaking Piano and Drums will receive a Hire Fee for the use of the School’s equipment.
The school cannot take responsibility for instruments privately owned. It is advised that parents insure instruments and have them clearly named and in a hard case.
Charging of Music Fees
Music fees are charged mid-term to mid-term, except for Term 4, where they are charged at the end of the year. These music fees and any print music or instrumental supply charges (which are issued with the approval of the Coordinator of Music) are added to your main account and will show the term dates they are charged for.
Discontinuation of Lessons
Four weeks’ notice must be given by email to either the Timbertop Coordinator of Music or the Head of Unit. Discontinuation is also at the discretion of the Head of Timbertop or Coordinator of Music.
Swapped and Missed Lessons
Under no circumstances are lessons to be swapped between students. If a student misses a timetabled lesson charges will be levied. If the student is off-campus for an extended period of time or if their music tutor is unavailable then no charge will be made.
Electives
Participation in instrumental/vocal tuition is compulsory when students choose the Music Elective subject.
Music Practice
Students are allocated one full hour supervised, compulsory practice session per week. Students are strongly encouraged to make use of extra practice time when it is available.
Examinations
It is advised students cannot undertake music examinations while at Timbertop.
Performance
There are many performance opportunities, including Chapel, concerts at the School and cross-campus activities, and public performances in the local district.
